Fewer signatures to run as delegate

The law lowers the signatures needed to run for national convention delegate. You now need 50 eligible voter signatures, down from 150. This applies to nomination papers for the presidential preference primary.

New deadlines for delegate paperwork

Delegate candidates face clear filing deadlines. File nomination papers with the local city or town board where the signers are voters by 4:00 p.m. on the 54th day before the presidential preference primary. Also submit approval paperwork to the secretary of state by 4:00 p.m. on the 50th day before the primary. The approval must show the presidential candidate or party committee has approved the named delegates, as set out in state law.
