Equal zoning rules for recovery homes

The law defines a recovery house as a properly zoned home that offers support for people in addiction recovery. Cities and towns must treat these homes as regular residential use. They have the same rights and duties as other households in similar homes in the same zoning area. Localities cannot add extra zoning, building, or fire code rules that do not apply to similar houses. These protections work alongside other state laws and local zoning rules that already apply to all similar homes, and take effect upon passage.
