New Portsmouth property tax classes in 2026

Portsmouth can set a property tax classification plan by ordinance. The plan applies to taxes assessed on or after December 31, 2026. The town council can adopt, repeal, or change the plan for any later tax year. The plan must follow state limits on how far class tax rates can differ. Depending on the choices made, homeowners and businesses may pay more or less.
