Public tool to find affordable housing

Beginning January 1, 2027, the state hosts a public online database of low- or moderate-income housing. It is run by the Executive Office of Housing or Rhode Island Housing. You can see current listings, a contact person, and application forms for each development. It notes if a site serves seniors, people with disabilities, homeless individuals, or victims of domestic violence. When possible, you can set your preferences and get alerts when matching homes are available.

Owners must list affordable units online

Beginning January 1, 2027, owners of housing that qualifies as low- or moderate-income must list it on the state database. For developments finished after that date, list before or when you open for lease-up or start taking applications. For homeownership units, list before the first sale and before or at each resale listing. This helps renters and buyers find units faster. Owners take on a new, simple listing step to comply.
