Easier school enrollment for military kids

If a parent or guardian is moving to Rhode Island under military orders and is transferred to or pending transfer to a Rhode Island base, your child is treated as a resident for school enrollment. Schools must let you pre-register remotely without charge when you show those orders. No in-person visit is needed. You may use an on-base billeting address, a purchased or leased home, or federal off-base military housing. You do not need to show residency at registration. You must provide proof within 10 days after the student starts attending. A “military-connected student” is a child of someone on active U.S. duty or full-time active service in the Rhode Island National Guard.
