Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

More pharmacist help managing medicines

Beginning July 1, 2026, pharmacists can team with more types of prescribers under a signed agreement. You can get medication management from a pharmacist who works with your doctor, nurse practitioner, or other prescriber. Once the paperwork is complete, the team can start without waiting for formal board approval. The agreement is reviewed and signed each year, and parties must answer board questions. Collaborating providers approve the pharmacist’s advanced training, and pharmacists may take your vital signs when needed for care.

Clear rules for pharmacy testing

Beginning July 1, 2026, pharmacy testing in collaborative care follows a single national standard. Pharmacists may perform point-of-care tests that are classified as CLIA-waived and listed in the Federal Register. Testing outside that CLIA-waived list is not allowed under these agreements.

Oversight changes and committee eliminated

Beginning July 1, 2026, the law eliminates the collaborative practice committee. The health department and board continue oversight. The director, board members, and their staff keep civil immunity for good faith official acts. The committee is no longer listed for statutory immunity.
