Retired police can work details, with limits

The law lets retired police officers take state-funded detail work for a state agency or its contractor. If you retired under the state system, you can work up to 75 full days or 150 half-days in a year. If you retired under a municipal system, the limit is 75 days in a year. If you pass the limit, your pension payments are suspended while you keep working. Time on private details paid by a nongovernment employer does not count toward the 75-day limit. You do not earn extra service credit or make retirement contributions for this work.
