Safety signs and training at shooting ranges

The law sets suicide-safety rules for all shooting ranges. Ranges must post clear signs anywhere people shoot, and they cannot be hidden or removed. Each sign is at least 8.5 by 11 inches, black text on white, with letters at least 36-point. Signs, in English and Spanish, say to call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or text “HOME” to 741741 if in distress. At membership-based ranges, non-members must stay with a member at all times, on site and while shooting. Starting January 1, 2027, every range employee must complete Health Department–approved training on suicide warning signs. The Environmental Management and Health departments issue rules to run this program. The law covers public and private ranges and takes effect upon passage; the training starts in 2027.
