No landfill use on district site

The Commission may build on about 50 acres of its 152-acre site near Highway 124 and the Saluda River. The law bans any landfill use on this property. If a transfer station is built, it cannot expand onto the undeveloped part. These limits must be recorded as a restrictive covenant on the land.

Trash pickup outside district ends June 2026

Beginning June 30, 2026, the Greater Greenville Sanitation District stops collecting trash outside its borders. Only towns or other local governments that had an intergovernmental agreement on January 1, 2025 keep service. The district’s transfer station can accept waste only from inside the district and from those same allowed towns. If you live outside the district and are not covered, you need another hauler after that date.
