The law creates the South Carolina Child Abuse and Neglect Network. The University of South Carolina School of Medicine runs it. The network coordinates medical services for suspected child abuse or neglect with children’s advocacy centers and other responders. Doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants must be licensed in South Carolina to take part. The law uses existing state definitions for “child,” “child abuse or neglect,” and “children’s advocacy centers.” The law takes effect May 8, 2025.
