Funding to upgrade Sturgis Readiness Center

The law authorizes South Dakota’s Department of the Military to expand and renovate the Sturgis Readiness Center. It provides $2.35 million from the state general fund and $8 million in federal spending authority for this project. Authorized work includes design, construction, utilities, furnishings, equipment, maintenance, and other services needed to complete the project. The Bureau of Human Resources and Administration oversees design and construction. The adjutant general must approve payment vouchers, and the state auditor issues payments. Funds neither lawfully spent nor obligated by June 30, 2031, revert under state procedures. The emergency clause makes the law effective upon passage and approval. The law creates no direct household payment or benefit.
