South Dakota sets statewide sex definitions

South Dakota law defines male and female by the reproductive system that produces sperm or eggs, respectively. It defines man and woman as an adult human male and an adult human female. It also defines boy, girl, father, mother, and sex. State and local governments must use these definitions in laws, rules, contracts, guidance documents, policies, and practices. The definition of sex does not apply in chapters 22-24A and 22-24B.
