New funding to restore the Capitol
Beginning June 29, 2026, the law creates the Capitol Restoration Fund to restore, renovate, and improve the State Capitol building. The Bureau of Human Resources and Administration manages the fund. The State Treasurer must make a one-time $1.1 million transfer from the Public Buildings Fund to the new fund. All interest earned stays in the fund. Spending requires a special appropriation, meaning lawmakers must separately approve use of the money.
