South Dakota silencer owners face fewer penalties

South Dakota no longer treats firearm silencers as controlled weapons. Knowingly possessing a silencer is no longer covered by the state's Class 6 felony ban on controlled weapons. Machine guns and short shotguns remain controlled weapons. This change does not remove requirements under other laws.
