More money for South Dakota rural roads
The law provides $5 million from South Dakota’s general fund through the Department of Revenue for county rural access infrastructure. Each county’s share matches its share of statewide small structures on township roads and county secondary roads, as reported to the Department of Transportation. Counties must use the money under the state’s rural access infrastructure rules. Money not lawfully spent or committed by June 30, 2031, returns to the state. The law takes effect immediately upon passage and approval.
