Vaccine offers for hospital patients age 50+
Beginning July 1, 2026, Tennessee hospitals must offer vaccines to inpatients age 50 or older before discharge. Hospitals must offer flu shots each year from October 1 through March 1, and pneumococcal shots before discharge. Each vaccine must be available, with no medical reason to avoid it for that patient. Offers must follow the latest recommendations from the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Patients do not have to accept vaccination.
