Hamblen County Attorney pay and expenses

The County Attorney gets a $1,200 yearly retainer, paid in equal monthly amounts from the county general fund. The attorney may also receive reasonable extra pay for county legal work and reimbursement of actual, itemized expenses. All pay and reimbursements are reviewed by the county legislative body through the Consent Calendar and follow county finance rules. Expense claims must be itemized and certified.

Hamblen County creates elected County Attorney

The law creates the Office of County Attorney for Hamblen County. The County Commission elects the County Attorney each year at its September meeting set for that purpose. These rules apply only after a two-thirds vote of the county legislative body is certified to the Secretary of State.

Two-thirds county vote to activate law

The law has no effect unless the Hamblen County legislative body approves it by a two-thirds vote. The presiding officer must announce and certify the vote to the Secretary of State. The law is effective right away only to allow this approval vote; all other parts take effect after approval and certification.
