West Tennessee Megasite gains water bond authority

The Megasite Authority of West Tennessee can issue bonds only for water or wastewater systems it operates. Bonds can pay for buying, building, rebuilding, improving, or expanding those systems. Financed costs can include the bond principal, issuance costs, and related engineering, inspection, financial, and legal expenses. They can also include estimated interest during construction and for six months afterward. Both the Authority board and the Tennessee State Funding Board must approve bond issuance. Tennessee is not liable for these bonds, which are not state debt; each bond must state this on its face. The law sets no bond amount or direct household payment and took effect when it became law.
