Gun privacy rules for foster parents

The Department of Children's Services cannot ask how many or what kinds of guns or ammo you own. It cannot require you to show or give access to your firearms or ammunition. DCS may ask if guns or ammo are in your home and whether they are stored safely. DCS may ask to see where they are stored, but cannot make you open a locked safe or other secured compartment. These limits do not apply during an investigation of alleged abuse or neglect in a foster home.
