Utah interest rules change for outside judgments
The law changes interest on qualifying judgments from federal courts or courts outside Utah. It covers judgments filed under the Utah Foreign Judgment Act on or after May 7, 2025. Utah’s postjudgment interest rate under Section 15-1-4 applies, using the rate when Utah recognizes the judgment for enforcement. Another law or contract can set a different rule. Creditors receive this interest, and debtors owe it.
