Vermont authorizes multilingual health information contracts

The law takes effect July 1, 2026. In fiscal year 2027, Vermont’s Office of Racial Equity may contract with the Vermont Language Justice Project. State agencies and departments can request materials to help Vermonters who speak languages other than English. These cover disease outbreaks, natural disasters, other public health emergencies, and ongoing personal and public health information. The Department of Buildings and General Services must help the Project navigate the process to become an approved state contractor. The law does not require funding or set a contract amount.
