Earn time off community supervision

Beginning July 27, 2025, eligible people on community custody can earn time off supervision. You earn 10 days of credit for each month you follow all supervision rules and make progress on your case plan. Credit adds up monthly and cannot be used before it is earned. You are not eligible if you were sentenced under RCW 9.94A.507 or 10.95.030; RCW 9.94A.650, .655, .660, or .670; are under RCW 9.94A.745 supervision; have an indeterminate sentence with parole under RCW 9.95.017; or are serving community custody after early release under RCW 9.94A.730. You also cannot earn credit on any cause that is served at the same time as a less restrictive alternative under RCW 71.09.092.

Prosecutors get earlier notice and records

Beginning July 27, 2025, agencies must give prosecutors and the attorney general a written referral at least three months before certain releases if a person may meet sexually violent predator criteria. This covers release after conviction, after a juvenile finding, when a charged person is found incompetent to stand trial, and when a person is found not guilty by reason of insanity. The agency must include full institutional files, Indeterminate Sentence Review Board files, police reports, criminal history, and mental health records. Prosecutors can get more records, ask an inquiry judge for compulsory process, and serve civil investigative demands on public agencies, with court review and enforcement. Records are only shared for civil‑commitment duties, and agencies and staff are immune for good‑faith actions. “Agency with jurisdiction” includes DOC, the Indeterminate Sentence Review Board, and DSHS. Civil investigative demands do not apply to criminal prosecutions.
