Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington expands access to child welfare housing help, subject to available program funding. Parents qualify when lack of suitable housing blocks reunification with a child under court dependency. Parents also qualify when unstable housing threatens to push a child at risk of foster care out of the home. The department or its contractors may keep providing housing aid after child welfare or child protective services end. With funding approved for this specific purpose, the department must seek to serve all eligible waiting-list families and eliminate waiting lists where possible.
