Pay and support for advisory committee

The committee elects a chair and any other needed officers from voting members. Voting members receive compensation and get travel and per diem paid under state rules. Legislative members are reimbursed under legislative reimbursement rules. The Department of Corrections provides staff, space, and equipment so the committee can do its work.

New makeup for prison industries board

The Correctional Industries Advisory Committee now has 11 voting members. The Secretary appoints nine: three labor, three business across industries and sizes, and three from the public. The Governor appoints two people from underrepresented groups with direct lived experience, but not those in total confinement. Voting members serve staggered three‑year terms. The House Speaker and Senate President each add two nonvoting legislators, who serve two years or until they leave their chamber.
