Grants support college credits for high-school students

The law continues Washington's 2024 regional pilot to help public high school students earn career-related college credits and credentials. The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges awards grants to participating community and technical colleges, public high schools, and regional career-training skill centers. Public high schools serving grades nine through twelve qualify. Grants support course catalogs updated each year and links to college credentials and apprenticeships in fields with strong job demand. They also support faster, more accurate credit awards and transcripts, staff training, student outreach, and agreements matching high school and college courses. Equipment and supplies grants support emerging needs in high-demand, high-paying industries. The pilot can receive grants for up to two years, subject to available state funding. The act has no effect unless the state's main budget law specifically funded it by bill or chapter number by June 30, 2025. The pilot authorization expires July 1, 2030.
