Breweries gain more food service options

Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington domestic breweries and microbreweries can subcontract food service to meet restaurant-license requirements. Contracting with another establishment to prepare, cook, and serve food lets breweries qualify for beer and/or wine restaurant licenses. Contracts with mobile food units or independent food providers also support spirits, beer, and wine restaurant licenses, with substantial complete-meal service. On-site food vendors must sell food and nonalcoholic drinks to the public, hold no retail liquor license, and meet local health and permit rules. Subcontracts or subleases must identify the food space, include a kitchen-plan diagram, and state the vendor's responsibilities for that space and permits. Food-service space and staff access areas must be substantially separated from alcohol storage where tax has not been paid.

Dog access rules for qualifying breweries

Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington's State Board of Health must adopt rules allowing dogs at qualifying licensed domestic breweries and microbreweries. This requirement covers premises without food service that requires a food-service permit. It does not cover premises that provide or subcontract for permit-required food service.
