Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington eases management rules for some new Group B public water systems. Satellite management agency ownership or operation remains required if a system needs treatment to meet water-quality standards or provides firefighting water flow. It is also required if the system has atmospheric storage or serves 10 or more service connections. Systems meeting none of these conditions are exempt from this state management requirement, but local health boards can set stricter rules. All public water systems must still follow applicable federal, state, and local rules.
