New endorsement fee for Columbia River anglers

Beginning January 1, 2026, anglers age 15 or older must buy a Columbia River salmon and steelhead endorsement on top of a regular fishing license. It applies only to department‑authorized salmon or steelhead fisheries on the Columbia River and its tributaries. The endorsement costs $7.50 for most people and $6 for youth and seniors. Money from sales and gifts goes to a dedicated account the department uses only for selective fishing work like monitoring, hatchery production, pinniped removal, and enforcement; only the director can approve spending, and it does not need a separate appropriation. The endorsement and account end January 1, 2028.
