Beginning March 18, 2026, cars in a city streetcar right-of-way in Washington with over 700,000 people are unauthorized if they block streetcars or threaten public safety. They can be removed right away. Authorized city staff can order a tow on public property and must give the tow operator a signed authorization at the scene. Owners must pay towing and impound fees and cannot access the car until it is released.
