Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington city, town, and county law enforcement officers gain access to binding arbitration over contract disputes. Coverage no longer depends on city or county population. Officers employed by municipal airports operating under chapter 14.08 RCW also qualify. Covered officers must meet the law enforcement officer definition in RCW 41.26.030. Arbitration resolves bargaining disputes over pay and benefits, but the law does not guarantee increases.
