Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington treats certain dockworker employer representatives as employers for paid family and medical leave reporting. This applies when dockworkers normally work interchangeably for several employers in the same industry under a collective bargaining agreement. Representatives must report and send in premiums for dockworkers covered by that agreement. They do not have to report dockworkers outside the agreement, except their own employees. The law does not specify changes to premium amounts or benefit levels.
