Beginning March 1, 2026, Washington’s Department of Health establishes a mobile market program to improve food access and support local farmers. It serves participants in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs. The program is available only when the department receives funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Department rules must require nonprofit operation and prevent competition with farmers markets participating in the farmers market nutrition program. If the department finds a waiver necessary to accept both programs’ benefits, it must request one from USDA.
