Beginning July 27, 2025, the law repeals Washington’s state laws on how counties fill county commissioner vacancies. RCW 36.32.070 and RCW 36.32.0558 no longer apply, including for five‑member boards. Counties and local officials must use other state laws or local rules to handle vacancies. The act does not create a new process to replace the repealed sections.
