The state creates a dedicated account for wolf‑livestock work in northeast Washington. Money from state appropriations, donations, and other sources goes into the account. Funds can only pay for nonlethal wolf deterrence, wolf‑livestock management, and grants to the Stevens and Ferry county sheriffs for a local wildlife specialist. The Fish and Wildlife director approves spending after consulting the advisory board. The account follows state allotment rules, and no separate appropriation is needed to spend. Interest stays in the account, and the advisory board can raise money through gifts and grants.
The law expires July 1, 2031. After that date, the northeast Washington wolf‑livestock account and related authorities end unless the Legislature extends them. Funding and support under this program stop after that date unless extended by a new law.
