The law took effect July 27, 2025. By July 1, 2027, Washington hospitals must publish price data and follow federal disclosure rules as of January 1, 2025. Starting July 1, 2027, hospitals must send their latest price lists to the Washington Department of Health at least annually. These include a computer-readable file of standard charges for all items and services. They also include an easy-to-read list of standard charges for a limited set of services patients can shop for. This helps patients compare charges but does not set prices or guarantee savings.
