Residential private school licensing delayed one year

Licensing rules for residential private school living spaces start July 1, 2026, instead of July 1, 2025. Schools get another year before compliance is required, while students and families wait longer for this licensing oversight. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families must send legislative committees a preliminary licensing and oversight report by July 1, 2026, instead of July 1, 2025. Its final report is due July 1, 2027, instead of July 1, 2026. The law itself took effect May 13, 2025.
