Military-certified home child care gets licensing exemption

Beginning July 27, 2025, qualifying family home child care providers are exempt from Washington’s child care licensing requirements. Providers must be in the surrounding metropolitan area of a federal military reservation. A federal military service must oversee them and currently certify them. The law does not specify changes to families’ child care costs or benefits.
