Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington expands consumer protections for continuing care retirement community residents. Violations of state retirement community rules count as unfair or deceptive acts under the Consumer Protection Act. The law removes pattern-based enforcement limits and the attorney general's duty to notify community managers about complaints. Communities applying to register must disclose whether entrance fees replace payments for future care and services. If so, they must state whether those fees cover the services fully or partly.
