Beginning June 11, 2026, Washington’s Department of Health can seek federal approval to accredit opioid treatment programs. Approval from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services requires the department to follow federally approved policies and procedures. The department must then set initial and renewal fees by rule to cover its accreditation costs. It can use money appropriated from the opioid abatement settlement account to offset those costs. The law sets no fee amounts and creates no direct household payment.
