The law updates Washington’s vital records definition of fetal death. It uses the best clinical estimate of gestational age, not the last menstrual period. A case counts at 20 or more weeks, or at 350 grams or more if weeks are unknown. It does not include an induced termination of pregnancy. Section 1 takes effect June 11, 2026, ends June 30, 2027, and on that same day Section 2 takes effect with the updated criteria.
