Longer tax break for stored farm chemicals

Beginning June 11, 2026, Washington extends its hazardous substance tax exemption from January 1, 2028, to January 1, 2038. It covers qualifying crop protection chemicals stored in Washington or transported to or from the state. These chemicals must be regulated under federal pesticide law and held solely for a farmer's or certified applicator's crop protection use. The possessor cannot otherwise use, manufacture, package for sale, or sell them in Washington. Manufacturing includes mixing chemicals; packaging for sale includes moving them between containers, including tanks.
