Fewer approval steps for water utilities

The law waives the Public Service Commission's project certificate requirement for qualifying water and sewer providers. Providers must serve at least 4,500 customers and have at least $3 million in annual combined gross revenue. Political subdivisions and public service districts do not qualify. The Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council must review each project, find it technically feasible, and approve it. The Commission also waives the 30-day filing notice requirement for Council-approved project applications.
