Vacation accrual and carryover for deputies

Beginning June 12, 2026, deputy sheriffs earn paid vacation each month based on years of service: under 5 years—1.25 days; 5–9 years—1.5 days; 10–14 years—1.75 days; 15+ years—2 days. A month only counts if the deputy worked more than half the normal hours plus one hour that month, as set by the sheriff. Each county must let a deputy carry at least 45 days of unused vacation into the next year. A county may choose to allow up to 60 days, but not more.
