West Virginia ends court campaign funding

The law ends the public campaign financing pilot for Supreme Court of Appeals candidates on June 30, 2026. Beginning July 1, 2026, the state transfers any unspent money from that fund to the General Revenue Fund. It also repeals the program’s rules, including eligibility, payments, reporting, and penalties. The act takes effect 90 days after passage.
