Bigger rainy-day funds for cities

Beginning June 10, 2026, cities and towns can create a financial stabilization fund by a majority vote. The governing body can move year-end General Fund surplus or other available money into the fund. The fund may also receive gifts and grants. The law removes the old 30% cap on how much these funds can hold.
