Beginning July 9, 2025, West Virginia exempts non-native quail and partridge kept for agricultural purposes from game preserve licensing. Covered uses include meat or egg production, breeding for that production, and sales for those purposes. Eligible owners avoid the license requirement and its $10 annual fee. Birds released into the wild remain subject to licensing.
