Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Flood insurance notices for governments and nonprofits

Beginning July 11, 2025, West Virginia’s Insurance Commissioner must post a yearly website notice for public entities and nonprofits. It explains how missing required flood insurance in designated zones can reduce federal disaster aid and describes potential financial losses. It also explains the availability of federally subsidized coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program. The notice does not provide funding or change who qualifies for insurance.

Car insurance rate publication no longer required

Beginning July 11, 2025, West Virginia’s Insurance Commissioner no longer has to publish car insurance rates. Consumers lose a required public source of rate information. This repeal does not itself change insurance rates, coverage, or who qualifies.
