Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

No registration fees for tribal vehicles

The law exempts vehicles owned by the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribal governments on the Wind River Reservation from state and county registration fees. The exemption applies only when the tribal government owns the vehicle. The law takes effect immediately.

Special and confidential plates for tribal fleets

The Wyoming Department of Transportation issues, on application, distinctive plates that show public ownership for vehicles owned by the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribal governments. The department issues these plates only if a public entity owns the vehicle and the applicant has authority to use it for a public purpose. For Wyoming investigative agencies and the U.S. Departments of Justice, Defense, and the Treasury, the department issues plates that do not show public ownership after proper credentials and ID are shown. In those cases, department records do not disclose public ownership. The law takes effect immediately.
