Producer
Air Liquide S.A.
French industrial gas company (Euronext: AI); operates nearly 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines along the U.S. Gulf Coast supplying oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. La Porte, Texas hydrogen facility serves Gulf Coast refiners. $50M investment announced October 2025 to expand Gulf Coast hydrogen distribution after new refinery supply deals. Also building new U.S. ultra-pure gas facility (including neon for semiconductors). Partner in HyVelocity Hub (DOE-funded $1.2B Gulf Coast hydrogen hub, launched November 2024).

Did you know2023
Air Liquide simultaneously supplies ultra-pure neon for semiconductor chip manufacturing, hydrogen for Gulf Coast oil refinery operations, medical oxygen for hospital patient care, and nitrogen and CO2 for food preservation and processing. A major Air Liquide operational disruption -- a pipeline explosion along the Gulf Coast, a cyber attack on its gas distribution systems, or a French regulatory action -- would simultaneously affect semiconductor fab production (neon), oil refinery operations (hydrogen), hospital medical gas supply (oxygen), and food packaging and preservation (nitrogen, CO2). The industrial gas industry has no equivalent of the power grid's interconnection: if Air Liquide's Gulf Coast hydrogen pipeline is disrupted, Gulf Coast refineries cannot simply buy hydrogen from a different pipeline. The single-source, pipeline-dependent structure of industrial gas supply creates cross-sector fragility that no individual sector's procurement team monitors.
