Chokepoint2025
ASML is the only company in the world capable of manufacturing EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography machines, which are required to fabricate chips at 7nm and below. Each machine ships in 40 freight containers, is assembled only in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and costs ~$380M. Nikon and Canon, ASML's traditional lithography rivals, have been unable to produce a working EUV machine despite 20+ years of attempts.
